Objectives

The main objective of the Business Informatics higher professional study programme is to educate bachelors with interdisciplinary knowledge on informatics and business science. Having completed the studies you may integrate into employment in economic as well as in non-economic sector or continue with the studies at a higher level.

The programme is designed on a highly interdisciplinary basis. Primarily, students acquire knowledge on informatics and business science (economics, entrepreneurship), in addition to social sciences such as law, a foreign language and communication studies related to electronic commerce and the use of information- and communication technologies (ICT).

The programme is built on four pillars:

  • Compulsory courses within the framework of which basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of computer sciences and informatics is obtained, with the emphasis on the use of ICT in business processes.
  • Compulsory courses within which basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of economy and management is gained, in conjunction with the use of ICT.
  • Compulsory courses within which basic theoretical and practical knowledge of social sciences is obtained, in conjunction with the business informatics.
  • Elective courses where you can select a particular specialization or by this choice simply sharpen your professional profile.

Within the framework of business informatics the following skills are obtained:

  • expertise in the field of business informatics,
  • ability to transfer the acquired knowledge into practice and to solve professional and working problems, especially by seeking new sources of knowledge,
  • capability to communicate within the profession and in-between professions, in particular between business and computer sciences, and informatics,
  • improvement in communication abilities and skills,
  • ability of cooperating and working in teams,
  • professional criticism and sense of responsibility,
  • flexibility, creativity, initiative and self-reliance in decision-making and in completing most demanding tasks.

Hence, the basic objective of the Business Informatics higher professional study programme is to equip professionals with key knowledge of computer science and information- and business science, as well as prepare them for the growing and changing demands of the business environment and modern society.
