2027 INTERNATIONAL PROJECT WEEK FOR STUDENTS

/A GLIMPSE OF LAST YEAR'S EXPERIENCE/
TITLE: THINK LOCAL, VENTURE GLOBAL – Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Civic Resilience for Tomorrow's World
Erasmus Blended Intensive Program (5 ECTS)
This BIP invites students to look at sustainability challenges close to home - in their own city, region, or everyday life - and reimagine them as the starting point for a business idea with international potential. Rather than beginning with a fixed theme, teams identify a concrete local problem (in energy, waste, food, tourism, mobility, urban development, civic resilience, or the environment) and design a venture that could realistically be scaled, replicated, or adapted across borders.
The approach keeps the program open enough for students from different fields of study to engage with a topic relevant to them, while anchoring every project in the same project management logic: from problem identification, through project planning, to a pitch-ready proposal.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the BIP, students will be able to:
- Apply project management and entrepreneurial project management tools and techniques (WBS, Gantt charts, stakeholder analysis, risk assessment) within an international team setting.
- Identify a local sustainability or civic resilience challenge and reframe it as a scalable, cross-border or global venture proposal.
- Develop and present a sustainably oriented project in an international setting.
- Create a project plan using tools like WBS, Gantt charts, stakeholder analysis, and risk assessment.
- Understand international market entry strategies and navigate the key challenges of cross-border trade for sustainable and resilient ventures.
- Build solutions that strengthen local community readiness, disaster preparedness, and social cohesion.
- Effectively present and pitch a venture proposal to an evaluation committee and at a student business fair.
Who Can Participate?
This project week welcomes both international and local students from diverse academic disciplines (Business, IT, Tourism, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, etc.). No prior experience in project management or business is required - only curiosity, creativity, and the motivation to design impactful solutions for a more sustainable world. English level requirement: C1.
Application
Application through web form is a mandatory prerequirement.Registration is open until all places are filled or until December 15th, 2026. If accepted, applicants will receive a confirmation of their admission to the program. Application does not guarantee acceptance.
The BIP is a two-phase learning experience combining online preparation with an intensive, hands-on project week in Ljubljana.
ONLINE
- Online Meeting 1 - Introduction to the BIP: Approximately one month before the on-site week, students are introduced to the BIP concept, planned activities, project management approach, teamwork and collaboration process, as well as potential project ideas related to the revitalisation of degraded areas.
- Online Meeting 2 - From Idea to Project: Approximately one week after the first online meeting, students receive practical guidelines for developing their project idea into a structured project proposal and plan, with a particular focus on project initiation.
ON-SITE
During the intensive week in Ljubljana, students further develop their project proposals in international teams. They are guided by lecturers with expertise in project management, marketing, international trade, entrepreneurship, leadership and sustainability. Each day, following the thematic sessions, students work in international teams on their projects, with guidance and mentoring provided by lecturers from the participating institutions.
- Day 1 – From Project Idea to Presentation: Introduction to the BIP week, project development process, exhibition stands and pitch presentations, supported by practical instructions and examples from lecturers representing different disciplines.
- Day 2 – Project Management & International Business: Additional project management guidance, combined with international trade, international entrepreneurship and cross-border economic opportunities.
- Day 3 – Leadership Without Borders: Exploring leadership in international and intercultural environments and its relevance to successful teamwork and project development.
- Day 4 – Business Model Canvas: Developing and refining project ideas using the Business Model Canvas and preparing projects for their final presentation.
- Day 5 – Student Business Fair & Final Pitches: The week concludes with a Student Business Fair, where teams present their projects at exhibition stands and pitch their ideas to an evaluation committee and the wider audience. The committee evaluates the project proposals and announces the best project idea.
